One day, I aspire to be a journalist and hope to suggest numerous solutions to global conflicts. Other than writing, I love to create and observe art, explore, drink coffee, and play video games! I’m thrilled to be a Writing Consultant, and I can’t wait to work with you guys!!

  • Figurative language

  • Literary analysis

  • Creative writing

About Me:

Hi guys:) ! My name is Ana Lucía but I go by Ana because, much like my writing style, I like to keep things short and sweet. I love creative writing, and have been writing poetry, journal entries, and short stories ever since I first got my hands on one of those dysfunctional little lock and key journals from my sister as a last minute bday present. I am very big on creative expression because I have found it offers such a unique, and beautiful way for people to express themselves. Besides reading and writing my current favorite hobby is photography, and even though I honestly have no idea what I’m doing for the whole college situation, I’m considering pursuing it as a career someday. Outside of school I like to spend my time being outdoors, napping and napping outdoors. Fun facts about me: I speak Spanish; I’ve gone to a grand total of 11 schools because of moving around, so I love being friendly and meeting new people.

Favorite things: Friends (tv show); Donald Glover; Tyler; the creator; and the air/weather/ feeling just before a storm starts.

About Me:

Hi. My name is Sophia Shaker. Yes, like salt shaker. I’ve heard all the jokes before. While writing can be the death of me, I love the feeling of when you get in the groove and thoughts and ideas start spewing out of your brain and suddenly you can’t stop the rhythm of the typing. It makes writing less of a chore, less of a school assignment, and more of a tool of humanity. I also sing. A lot. I was born in Houston, then moved to Indonesia, then moved to Libya, then moved to Singapore, then I came here in 2018. Unlike most siblings, I am very close with my older brother and sister. I also really like boba.

Kind of like choosing an instagram caption. Trust me, I know what you’re going through and I’m here to help. I’m happy to give my best shot with any writing assignment you’ve got! In my own time, I play soccer with the school and a club, and coach youth basketball and soccer teams. I’m definitely as busy as I’m making it sound, but I will always make time for anybody that needs help! Thanks for choosing The Writing Center, and if you’re looking for me, I shouldn’t be too hard to find!

HYTEN.jpg

Ms. Clark

WRITING CENTER DIRECTOR

About Me:

Maybe you’ve seen me in the halls. I’m the one with the purple hair… no, silver… no, pink… Wait, what day of the week is it? Oh yeah, no hair.

I teach because I love people. I teach English because I love language. I love the etymology of words, the cadence, the musicality of them. Sometimes, when I’m reading, I have to stop and hug the book to show my appreciation for a beautifully crafted sentence.

My go-to shows are The Office (Pam and Dwight > Pam and Jim. Don’t @ me), Parks and Rec, and Friends. (I’d like to think I’m a Phoebe, but I’m probably a Ross.) Dave Grohl is my hero.

A Word About The Center:

Writing is rewarding, but it is also difficult -- so very difficult. Here at The Writing Center, we appreciate the struggle and the beauty of it all. We also understand that sharing your writing can be stressful, and we are here to make collaboration not just painless but enjoyable. Our consultants are enthusiastic and anxious to help.
